Genus Pentastiridius Kirschbaum, 1868

Compiler and date details

9 September 2010 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

Emeljanov (1995) created a subgeneric classification for the almost cosmopolitan genus Pentastiridius but did not include Nesopompe which had been created by Kirkaldy (1907) as a subgenus of Oliarus Stål with the single Australian species Oliarus (Nesopompe) felis Kirkaldy. Holzinger et al. (2002) transferred Nesopompe from Oliarus to Pentastiridius thereby establishing Pentastiridius in the Australian fauna for the first time.
