Introduction

This species is only known from the male holotype and a single female paratype, both from Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Unfortunately, only one leg remains of the holotype in SAM and Webb (1983) based his recognition of the species on the female paratype and Evans' original description of the male.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Head ventral surface evenly convex, ante- and frontoclypeus apricot colour; eyes purplish brown, ocelli black; an oval area against the posterior margin of the face, purplish brown; lora and maxillary plates biscuit coloured. Crown medially pale purplish brown, laterally apricot, slightly wider in the centre than against the eyes. Pronotum and scutellum golden yellow. Tegmen golden yellow, apically hyaline. Thorax and abdomen ventral surface pale biscuit colour. Length 2.5 mm (Evans 1941).

Female genitalia with posterior margin of pregenital sternite slightly concave. Second and third valvulae as in hyleorias [Second valvulae narrow; teeth extended to near midlength of valvulae; dorsal margin with a short hyaline region immediately anterior to teeth; dorsal sclerotised region elongate. Expanded apex of third valvulae approximately equal in length to narrow basal region and extended about two thirds its length beyond gonopore] (Webb 1983).
