Introduction

This small pale yellow species with brown markings is recorded along the coastal strip of Western Australia between Dongara and Yanchep.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Anteclypeus, maxillary plates and lora white; frontoclypeus white with dark brown markings; vertex pale brown mottled with brown; eyes brown. Pronotum grey mottled with brown. Scutellum yellowish-white, muscle impressions brown. Tegmen claval and costal areas white, the rest of the tegmen hyaline grey irregularly suffused with brown. Thorax ventral surface brown. Abdomen ventral surface and legs yellow. Length 2.2 mm (Evans 1942).

Male genitalia as in P. hyleorais (Kirkaldy) but segment X with a few longer peg-like spines and posterolateral margin with a single lobe, aedeagus with processes more divergent in posterior aspect. Female genitalia with posterior margin of pregenital sternite slightly concave medially. Second valvulae with teeth extending over approximately distal third of valvulae; dorsl sclerotised region elongate. Expanded apex of third valvulae extended about 2/3 length of narrow basal region and extended nearly 2/3 its length beyond pygophore (Webb 1983).
