Introduction
Ghasemzadeh et al. (2004) wrongly attribute a holotype to Bleeker's Mugil oligolepis, but no holotype was established originally; they designated that "holotype" as the neotype for Mugil parmatus Cantor 1850, but no length was given for the "holotype" so the neotype designation was not established (Eschmeyer 2012; Kottelat 2013).
