Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy
- Evans, J.W. 1966. The leafhoppers and froghoppers of Australia and New Zealand. Memoirs of the Australian Museum 12: 1-347 [137] (synonymy of P. casuarinae )
Introduction
This species has the anterior extension of the head slightly spatulate apically which is similar to the head extension of Mapochiella rotundata Evans. The species therefore provides an intermediate state between the two genera. A molecular examination of the two genera will probably show that they should be synonymised. P. pseudolyricen is found from Bundaberg in SE Queensland to near Melbourne in Victoria.

Diagnosis
Smaller than the preceding [Paradorydium menalus Kirkaldy] and the capital process shorter and more spatulate, the female being more narrowed at the middle of the process. Testaceous, minutely and closely punctured and spotted with brown, apex of process dark brown; two black spots on anterior margin of scutellum near antero-lateral angle. Tegmina pale yellowish brown, lateral margins pallid. Sterna (except laterally) and abdomen (more or less) blackish. Capital process somewhat ascendant apically, about 2½ times as long as the width of the head basally. Tegmina longer than abdomen, with the nota about two-thirds to seven-eighths longer than the head. Length: 5¾ (male), 8¼ (female) mm. (Kirkaldy 1906).
