Species Pachygrapsus laevimanus Stimpson, 1858

Introduction

Pachygrapsus laevimanus was poorly described by Stimpson (1858) from specimens collected in the vicinity of Sydney. As a result, this species has been ignored for many years and often confused with P. transversus (Gibbes, 1850), a species widely distributed in the Mediterranean, east and west Atlantic, and east Pacific as far as Easter I., although there is uncertainty over the identity of specimens from this locality (Poupin et al.(2005).
