It is not necessarily a junior subjective synonym, however, as T.P Lucas had more than one species represented by his syntypes. A syntype bearing a "type" label, although the label was added subsequent to Lucas' description, is present in SAMA. This specimen is here treated as an informal lectotype and thus Lucas' name represents the species hitherto known as Nycteola crystallites (Meyrick, 1902). Both these names are junior subjective synonyms of Nycteola polycyma (Turner, 1899). Poole (1989) synonymised Sarotricha demiota T.P. Lucas with Selepa circulella (Walker, 1866) without examining syntypes. Poole's synonymy may be justified if further syntypes are found which represent this species and a lectotype selected from them)
