Introduction

This pale golden brown species is only known from females from the Sydney basin of New South Wales. It was only tentatively placed in Neotartessus by Evans (1981) pending discovery of a male. Evans (1966) synonymised the species with Austrotartessus iokaste (Kirkaldy) but it was reinstated by Evans (1981).

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Ventrally very pale brownish yellow, clypeus and markings on the frons pale brown; eyes brownish red. Head dorsally pale brownish yellow, slightly produced anteriorly. Pronotum and scutellum tawny. Thorax ventral surface and legs vey pale brownish yellow. Abdomen chocolate brown. Length 6.5 mm, head width 2 mm (Evans 1937).
