Introduction

Three species are recognised in Australia, including the type species, originally described from Larat Island in eastern Indonesia, and there is an additional species only found in New Guinea.

Diagnosis

The genus can be distinguished by the features used in the key below. The narrow vertex differentiates species from most other Australian Pentastirini. Emeljanov (2001) defined the genus by the genital styles bearing a long, slender, sclerotised dorsal process. A similar process also occurs in the acanthopygophoris group of Oliarus, although slightly less sclerotised and shorter, and in Cordoliarus, where it is mounted in a different position.
