Introduction

In Australia, the nominate subtribe contains only the single genus Melobasis Laporte & Gory. The genus was revised by Carter (1923) and is badly in need of a contemporary revision. Therefore, the sequence of synonymies presented here follows those listed from Carter's revision (1923) and checklist (1929). Due to the confusion of the old synonymy, newer concepts may be in use amongst contemporary students and collectors of this group and may have led to some erroneous identifications in various papers listing plant associations and host notes.
