Species Mayawa kathyae Dietrich, 2021

Compiler and date details

4 March 2021 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This species was described from a single male collected in the Northern Territory. Two females, which are similar but larger, were considered to be conspecific but, because of the size difference, were not included in the type series. Such sexual dimorphism is not found in other species of Mayawa. The species name honours Kathy Hill, cicada expert who collected many new and interesting Australian leafhoppers for the Illinois Natural History Survey.
