Introduction

This is a coastal species found between the wet tropics of North Queensland and the NE of New South Wales. The species name reflects the greater amount of darker coloration, particularly on the face, compared with other species of the genus.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: grassland, phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

This species is most easily distinguished from other species of Mayawa by the arrangement of the apical and preapical processes of the aedeagus, along with the concave apical margin of the parameres (Fletcher 2000).
