Ecological Descriptors

Adult: diurnal, herbivore (associated flora: Schizomeria ovata D.Don [CUNONIACEAE] Crab Apple (on foliage); Podocarpus elatus R.Br. ex Endl. [PODOCARPACEAE] Plum Pine (on foliage); Elaeodendron australe Vent. [CELASTRACEAE] Red Olive Plum, Staff Vine; Syzygium floribundum F.Muell. [MYRTACEAE] Weeping Satin Ash (on foliage); Syzygium smithii (Poir.) Nied. [MYRTACEAE] (on foliage); Acronychia sp. [RUTACEAE] (on foliage); Heritiera actinophylla (F.M.Bailey) Kosterm. [STERCULIACEAE] (on foliage)), volant.

Larva: wood-borer (associated flora: Elaeodendron australe Vent. [CELASTRACEAE] Red Olive Plum, Staff Vine).

Extra Ecological Information

Bellamy & Williams (1986) recorded adults of M. littoralis collected from dead wood of Podocarpus elatus (Podocarpaceae), dying wood of Acronychia sp. (Rutaceae) and on foliage and emerging from dead, dry wood of Elaeodendron australe (Celastraceae); Williams (1995) recorded it from Acmena smithii (Myrtaceae).
