- Bregmaceros mcclellandi Thompson, W. 1840. On a new genus of fishes from India. Magazine of Natural History ns 4(40): 184-187 2 figs [184] [as Bregmaceros McClellandi; according to the ICZN (Article 32), the original spelling is to be retained unless it contravenes a mandatory provision of Articles 26–30 or is an obvious spelling error; recommendation 21a regarding the formation of new names does not countermand Article 32 and the commonly used B. macclellandi is an invalid emend.].
