Type data:
Status unknown, (Novojilov (1958) claims to have used a holotype in his redescription, but it is based on no more than Daday's (1925) description which was based on the original description by Baird (1860)), unknown; original material from western NSW. - Limnadopsis squirei Spencer, B. & Hall, T.S. 1896. Crustacea. Report on the Work of the Horn Scientific Expedition to Central Australia. II. Zoology. London and Melbourne. [239, pl. 21, fig. 15, pl. 22, figs 16-19].

Syntype(s) NMV J53349 (possible type material), Central Australia
Comment: in the original description Spencer and Hall state that there are six specimens in spirit and over a 100 dried carapaces; NMV has just four of the dried carapaces; there are also a few specimens in spirit (NMV J 54042) but these are not regarded as syntypes.
