Ningaloo Reef (22°00'S) to vicinity of Fenelon Island (14°09'S), WA, also Rowley Shoals (17°20'S) and Scott Reef (14°03'S), WA, Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12°15'S) and Raine Island (11°36'S) to Great Barrier Reef off Townsville (18°59'S) and possibly south to Capricorn-Bunker Group, QLD; easily confused with Lethrinus microdon and some records may be based on that species; tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
