Introduction
The Beach Salmon, the only member of the family Leptobramidae, is restricted to the coasts of northern Australia and southern New Guinea. The species is superficially similar to members of the Pempheridae and although it has been included with that family, it is now considered not to be closely related (Tominaga 1965; Mooi 2001; Nelson 2006). Beach Samon are commonly found off sand beaches and reach a maximum length of 43 cm.
