Species Ixodes cornuatus Roberts, 1960

Introduction

Camicas et al. (1998) proposed the name Ixodes robertsi as a new replacement name for Ixodes cornuatus Roberts 1960, because they believed the latter was a junior homonym of Ixodes cornuatus Olenev 1941. However, Guglielmone et al. (2009) showed that I. cornuatus Olenev 1941 is a nomen nudum, so I. cornuatus Roberts remains valid, and Ixodes robertsi is a junior objective synonym. Barker & Walker (2014) reviewed the biology and morphology of this species in detail.
