Subfamily Isocypridinae Rome, 1965

Introduction

The subfamily comprises the genera Isocypris Muller, Amphibolocypris Rome, 1965 and Platicypris Herbst, 1957.

 

Diagnosis

Medium size, laterally compressed carapace. Valves translucent, thin and fragile. Posterior margin of each valve with two conspicuously long setae. Anterior and antero-ventral marginal zone with septa formed by excrescences of fused zone. Terminal segment of maxillular palp distally enlarged. Terminal claw of walking leg very long. Uropodal ramus strongly developed, curved and with two almost equally long terminal claws.
