Species Idiocerella obscura Evans, 1941

Compiler and date details

30 September 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This species is based on a single female specimen which has been lost except for one leg (Webb 1983). Since the species is found on Kangaroo Island, it is possible that a review of the idiocerine material known from the island may be able to determine the identity of the species based on descriptions of seven Idiocerinae from Kangaroo Island provided by Evans (1941). However, Evans' description indicates that the species is basically dull buff without particularly distinctive features. The holotype is also a female which makes any potential identification more tentative.
