Introduction

A small brown species with an acute head and concavity along the costal margin. Confined to SE Queensland, one specimen was collected on Melaleuca quinquenervia (Cav.) S.T. Blake, the broad-leaved paperbark.

Adult: phloem feeder.

Extra Ecological Information

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

Colour. Vertex yellow brown; face yellow brown, anteclypeus darker; pronotum yellow; mesonotum yellow brown or mid brown with paler carinae; legs yellow to brown; forewing hyaline white with light and mid brown areas, veins concolorous with cells, tubercles mid brown; abdominal sternites mid brown, intersegmental membranes yellow to orange. Morphology. Body length. ♂ 4.4–4.6 mm; ♀ 4.8–5.5 mm. Male genitalia. Aedeagus: phallotheca with a very long, slightly curved spine arising near apex and a short spine ventrally below midlength; flagellum unarmed. (Löcker et al. 2006)
