- Callogobius liolepis Bleeker, P. in Koumans, F.P. 1931. A Preliminary Revision of the Genera of the Gobioid Fishes with United Ventral Fins. Lisse : Proefschrift Drukkerij Imperator N.V 174 pp. [75] [based on Bleeker manuscript and authorship often attributed to Koumans, however, Koumans did attribute the name to Bleeker and did not indicate that he examined the specimens, implying that the description came from the Bleeker manuscript and we accept here that attributing authorship to Bleeker meets Article 50.1.1. of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature as noted by Delventhal & Mooi 2014].

Introduction
The name of this speces was originally thought to belong to a species of Callogobius. Because of the confusion of the name occurring in two different genera, several records of this species actually are misidentified records of various species of Callogobius. The distribution reported here are based on Gobiopsis only.
