- Gobius macrostoma Günther, A. 1861. Catalogue of the Fishes in the British Museum. Catalogue of the acanthopterygian fishes in the collection of the British Museum. London : British Museum Vol. 3 586 pp. [44] [derivation is from the Greek makros = large + stoma = mouth and is a noun in apposition; incorrectly considered a secondary homonym of Gobiopsis macrostomus, both nouns with a one letter difference in spelling, see Larson (2010)].
