Type species:
Mysis spinifera Goes, 1864 by monotypy (when establishing the genus Norman placed in it Mysis spinifera Goes, 1864 which he thought was a junior synonym of Mysis sancta Beneden, 1861. This was later revised and Norman's specimens were recognised as Mysis spinifera, see (Tattersall, W.M. & Tattersall, O.S., 1951) [167]. With the reinstatement of the genus Haplostylus Kossmann, 1880, previously regarded as a junior synonym, the species in Gastrosaccus are unclear. Both genera are in need of clarification and revision). - Acanthocaris Sim, G. 1872. Stalk-eyed Crustacea of the north-east coast of Scotland. Scottish Naturalist 1: 182-190 2 pls [185].
