Introduction
This species is more common and widespread than other similarly coloured species of the genus. It is mainly associated with drier inland areas of southern Australia.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: gregarious, myrmecophilous, phloem feeder.
Diagnosis
Noire, avec une bande rouge au bord postérieur du prothorax, cette bande se prolongeant en pointe au milieu sur le disque, et deux andes transverses de la même couleur sur les élytres. Sternum, base des cuisses et des pièces vulvaires dans la femelle, rouges; les segments ventraux lisérés de rougeâtre. Long. 1,013 (Amyot & Serville 1843).
Head black, maxillary plates and narrowly between eyes, red. Pronotum black, posteriorly red. Tegmen, small area against the costal margin anteriorly and two transverse fasciae, red; remainder black. Abdomen ventral surface red. Length ♂ 13, ♀ 14 mm (Evans 1966).
