Introduction

This genus is currently monotypic but Day (1999) recognised two undescribed species from the north of the continent. The species are solidly built membracids with the lateral pronotal processes (LPPs) broad in dorsal view with longitudinal ridging. Evans (1966) used the feature that only one surface of the LPPs was visible in dorsal view as a diagnostic attribute of the genus. Although it is indeed a feature of this genus, Day (1999) pointed out that this feature can also be found in some species of Eufairmairia Distant, which can be differentiated by a lack of distinct longitudinal ridging on the LPPs. Day (1999) also pointed out that the generic name was inappropriate since the type species of Eufairmairiella (literally "little Eufairmairia") is bigger than many species of Eufairmairia.

Diagnosis

The hind margin of the face of the head is transverse. Viewed from in front, the sides of the oblique lateral pronotal processes slope evenly towards the humeral angles in the ♀. In the ♂, in which the lateral processes are more flattened, the sides of the pronotum between the base of the processes and the humeral angles are parallel with each other. From above, the lateral processes, which are apically broad with a posterior apical spine-like extension, are transverse, though in the ♂ the anterior margins are directed somewhat posteriorly. The median pronotal process, which is centrally carinate and downwardly curved posteriorly, extends as far as the apices of the folded tegmina. In the tegmina, M and Cu1 are separate for the whole of their lengths and crossveins m–cu1 and M–cu3 are developed (Evans 1966).

Well developed broad and ridged lateral pronotal processes with one surface visible dorsally. Median pronotal process long. Cucullate setae on hind tibia minute. Differs from Eufairmairia in the length of the clypeus, the cucullate setae of the hind tibia and the ridging of the dorsal surface of the lateral pronotal processes (Day 1999).

Day (1999) provided a comprehensive redescription of the genus.
