   Lectotype BMNH 1888.11.9.4 2 specimens, off Port Jackson (34º08´S 152ºE), NSW.

  Rowe, F.W.E. in Rowe, F.W.E. & Gates, J. 1995. Echinodermata. In, Wells, A. (ed.). Zoological Catalogue of Australia. Vol. 33. Melbourne : CSIRO Australia xiii 510 pp. [Date published 30 May 1995] (originally two syntypes from two localities; however Clark, A.H. (1907) records Port Jackson as the 'type locality' and the specimen from that locality is here regarded as the lectotype; the specimen from the second locality, NE of New Zealand, becomes the paralectotype).
