Collingwood : CSIRO Publishing Vol. 4 xiv 529 pp. & CD-ROM. [310] (Note # 649: Eligma Hübner, [1819) was placed in the Sarrothripinae by Hampson (1912), Gaede (1937-38) and Sugi (1982). It was placed in the Chloephorinae by Nye (1975) and Poole (1989). Kitching & Rawlins (1998) followed Speidel et al. (1996) who placed it in the Nolidae as a monobasic subfamily Eligminae, which was also supported by Jacobson & Weller (2002). Holloway (2003) retained it as unplaced in the Noctuoidea but a convicing molecular phylogeny generated by Zahiri et al. (2010) has now placed this genus in the Nolidae in subfamily Eligminae (Holloway, 2011))
