Introduction

This quite distinctive species is widespread in the Murray Darling basin from Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. It is also found in southern inland areas of Western Australia where one specimen was collected from Santalum lanceolatum R.Br. (Santalaceae).

Adult: phloem feeder.

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

Colour. Vertex straw coloured, except for central part dark brown and transverse carina red brown; face dark brown, carinae straw coloured, apical process of frons mid brown with apical part dark brown; pronotum straw coloured, with brown marks, ear-shaped lobes red brown; mesonotum dark brown, central part and carinae paler; legs yellow to brown; forewing hyaline colourless, veins light brown, tubercles mid brown; abdominal sternites dark brown, intersegmental membranes yellow. Morphology. Body length (excluding apical process of frons): ♂ 5.4–7.7 mm; ♀ 7.3–10.5 mm. Male genitalia. Aedeagus: phallotheca with a long, slightly curved spine arising ventrally near apex and a long, strongly curved spine arising ventrolaterally above midlength; flagellum unarmed.
