Introduction

This species, which is usually covered with a mealy grey powder, has more of a purplish grey colour in life. It also has a number of distinct round dark spots of various sizes on the tegmen, the largest two in line down the centre of the tegmen. This species is distributed from Torres Strait Islands in far North Queensland to the Sydney basin in New South Wales. It has been swept from eucalypt foliage.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Specimens dark brown to black in overall colour, costal margin of the tegmina a contrasting lighter shade, disc with small irregular pigment spots, largest of which is at the midpoint of the discal cell crossvein. The species is easily recognized by the characters of the male genitalia. Metatibial spine formula 1 : 7 : 9. Aedeagus with long apical process directed basally (Medler 1986).
