- Nephesaria Distant, W.L. 1906. Rhynchota. Hemiptera-Homoptera. The Fauna of British India including Ceylon and Burma 3: 1-503 [429].
Type genus:
Nephesa Amyot & Serville, 1843.
Introduction
This tribe contains a great diversity of Australian flatid planthoppers with taxonomic attention needed for many of the included genera. The Australian Nephesini currently includes 27 species in 14 genera, seven of which are monotypic and another is represented in Australia by a single species. As recognised by Medler (2001), the tribe includes genera such as Colgar Kirkaldy, Colgaroides Distant and Paradaksha Distant in which the sutural angle is at least rightangled, occasionaly acutely angled whereas Distant's (1910) definition states that this angle is "not produced" in his group Nephesaria.
Diagnosis
Tegmina never twice longer than broad, usually about one and a half times as long, the apical margin truncaet, but the posterior angle not produced; wings generally as broad, or nearly as broad as the tegmina (Distant 1910).
