Genus Dikraneura Hardy, 1850

Compiler and date details

18 February 2012 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

The genus Dikraneura Hardy is a species rich genus distributed primarily across the Palaearctic, Nearctic and Neotropical regions and it is unlikely, although possible, that a genuine representative is present in the Australian fauna. A species described in the genus from New Zealand was transferred to the new genus Matatua by Knight (1976) and it is possible that the Australian species, D. honiala Kirkaldy also needs to be transferred to a local genus, although it does not appear to belong in Matatua.
