Introduction

This largish species is only known from two males from the type locality 17 miles S of Atherton in the wet tropics of North Queensland.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Yellow marked with brown, including a spot on vertex near to each eye, a series of transverse bars laterally on clypeus, a patch on pronotum adjacent lateral area of vertex and basal triangles, and a pair of central spots on scutellum; vertex, pronotum and scutellum with less distinct brown markings each side of midline. Forewings brownish hyaline, veins darker brown with whitish patches. Male genitalia with pygophore processes very long and narrow, strongly curved verntally. Subgenital plates in lateral aspect narrow, slightly expanded at midlength, numerous short stout setae ventrally and apically and a dorsal group subapically on medial surface. Styles with extreme apex hook-like. Aedeagus with socle region long, strongly angularly produced posteriorly in lateral aspect; shaft with distal region very narrow and delicate, strongly curved ventrally, basal region with a short process from anterior margin. Length ♂ 7.1–7.3 mm (Webb 1983).
