Introduction

Day (1999) recognised two species of this genus, one which he described based on a single female from New South Wales, and the other which he called "S. sp. 1" from several locations in New South Wales, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia, most of which were in mountainous areas. The etymology was given by Day (1999) as "Named for Paul E. Strzelecki, believed to be the first European to climb Mt Kosciuszko (1840)". The etymology of Daymfus is given as "The name is dedicated [to] M. F. Day who is the current author of the preexisting genus Strzeleckia."
