Introduction

The identity of Cunaxa setirostris has been the subject of much confusion, since type specimens could not be found for use in earlier studies. It is likely that this name has been applied to several different species (Halliday, 2005). That problem has now been solved by the designation of a neotype and a thorough re-description of the species (Den Heyer & Sergeyenko, 2009). All published records of this species, including those from Australia, should be re-examined in light of this new concept of the species.
