Introduction
Many records of this species are based on Cryptocentrus melanopus. The Standard Name Pinkspot Shrimpgoby was based on that species and would be more appropriate for that species. The name Pink-speckled Shrimpgoby would be more appropriate for Cryptocentrus leptocephalus because this species has more numerous and smaller spots.
