Genus Cofana Melichar, 1926

Introduction

The genus Cofana is distributed across the Old World from Africa to the Pacific. In Australia, there are three species found in Queensland and the Northern Territory. They are all larger leafhoppers, pale in colour with dark spots on the head.

Diagnosis

Young (1979) provides a comprehensive description of the genus. For the Australian fauna, the ground colour is greenish white with black markings on the head. The only other larger pale species in Australia, Conguinula coeruleopennis (Fabricius) is pale yellowish, usually with a dark band along the upper margin of the closed tegmina.
