Introduction

The Chthoniinae are found in most regions of the world, and include 24 genera and over 450 species (Harvey 1991). The Australian fauna consists of one introduced species, numerous species of Tyrannochthonius, and several representatives of three other genera.

 

Diagnosis

The Chthoniinae differ from the Pseudotyrannochthoniinae in the position of trichobothria ib and isb which are situated basally or medially on the chelal hand.
