Suborder EPIOCHEIRATA Harvey, 1992
Compiler and date details
Mark S. Harvey, Western Australian Museum, Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Introduction
The suborder Epiocheirata was formed by Harvey (1992) to include the superfamilies Chthonioidea and Feaelloidea, which were thought to represent the sister-group to the remaining pseudoscorpions. The group was diagnosed by the presence of a small pair of trichobothria on the tip of the fixed finger of the pedipalp and the presence of coxal spines (which have been subsequently lost in some species). The Devonian species Dracochela deprehendor Schawaller, Shear and Bonamo, 1991 was also suggested to be a member of this group.
