  Comment: This type locality is probably in error. In 1810, “Botany Bay” was a generic term for half of Australia. The species does not occur in NSW.

Indo-west Pacific, from eastern Africa to Fiji. There is an isolated record from Scott Reef, in the Timor Sea, and also a literature report that needs confirmation from off the Pilbara Region, WA
