Notes

Originally described from de Witt's Land (Kimberley & Pilbara), Cephea fusca was considered valid by Haeckel (1880: 575) and von Lendenfeld (1884: 286), but Mayer (1910: 654) regarded it as a questionable junior synonym of C. cephea. Kramp (1961) did not treat it. Despite being treated as valid by several authors, the species has not been reported again since its original discovery.
