Introduction
The superfamily Actinomyariae comprises a sinlge family, the Cepheidae, with radial subumbrellar muscles; the cepheids usually have some sort of decoration on the bell, such as conspicuous papillae or knobs.
The actinomyarids are well represented in Australian waters, with members of both Cephea and Netrostoma commonly found along the tropical coasts.
Diagnosis
Kolpophorae with radial subumbrellar muscles. With eight rhopalar radial canals. Without a ring canal. With four more or less separated subgenital cavities. Subgenital ostia small, round. Stomach octagonal, with eight primary canals.
