Family CENTROGENIIDAE
False Scorpionfish
Compiler and date details
April 2012 - Douglass F. Hoese
Introduction
The Centrogeniidae comprise a single species, found on coral and rock reefs of the tropical Indo-west Pacific. The species has often been included with the Serranidae, but recent work has suggested that it warrants separate family status (Mooi & Gill 1995; Gill 1999). Shimokawa & Amaoka (1995) suggested a relationship with serranids or cirrhitids. Maximum size reached is 25 cm.
