Introduction

This largish (7.5–8.0 mm in males) species is restricted to the SW corner of Western Australia. It is a rich dark brown colour with pale speckling and with the main longitudinal veins of the fore wing coloured red. The species was redescribed in detail by Lambkin (1978).

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: phloem feeder.

Nymph: fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

A combination of generic features and locality should make this species recognisable. It has a short dumpy appearance compared with other Australian Achilidae. Lambkin (1978) gave a detailed description of the species, including its male genitalia.
