Introduction

This endemic monotypic genus is distributed from Sydney, New South Wales, to southern Tasmania. The single species is robust and squat with the lateral pronotal processes set back from the front of the pronotum which therefore seems to bulge anteriorly. The pronotum and the forewings, particularly over the basal region, bear prominent erect setae.

Diagnosis

The face of the head slopes posteriorly and is not in alignment with the anterior, vertical, part of the pronotum. The anterior median margin of the pronotum, as viewed from above, is not in alignment with the lateral processes and is convex. The lateral processes, which are three sided and in dorsal aspect broadly triangular and backwardly curved, are almost horizontal; their dorsal margins are ridged. The posterior process, which is keeled, extends as a ridge as far as the anterior margin of the pronotum; posterior to the lateral processes, it may be straight or anteriorly convex and it does not extend as far as the apices of the folded tegmina. In the tegmina, M and Cu1 are proximally fused for a short distance and m–cu3 is the only linking crossvein (Evans 1966).

Margin of pronotum convex anteriorly and not in alignment with the LPPs. Prominent ridge on the median posterior process. Pronotal notch wide. Lateral pronotal processes exhibit sexual dimorphism. Setae on tegmen surface (Day 1999).
