Species Bothriocephalus marginatus Krefft, 1873 (Nomen nudum)

Introduction

Type re-examined by I. Beveridge, February 2017. Consists of a poorly preserved fragment of a diphyllobothriid cestode. Could be a labeling error as ‘Bothridium pithonis’ is the only other diphyllobothriid reported in the same paper. Best considered to be a nomen nudum.

Ecological Descriptors

Endoparasitic (host(s): Wallaby (Paper states that “Mr Masters who collected the specimen in some part of Queensland (Wide Bay district I believe) is of the opinion that it was taken from the intestines of a Wallaby”.)).
