Genus Bennelongia De Deckker & McKenzie, 1981

 

Introduction

DeDeckker and Matens (2013) describe three new species, but do not establish new names for these: Bennelongia cf. nimala, Bennelongia sp. 414, and Bennelongia cf. barangaroo.

Diagnosis

Adults with strongly asymmetrical valves anteriorly; left valve beak-like anteroventrally: selvage displace inwards with inner list forming broad but short lip-like structure which does not extend anterodorsally. Anteroventral area of right valve usually smooth-curved but occasionally with beak-like flange. Prehensile palps asymmetrical. Basal segment of second thoracopod with two setae, penultimate segment divided. Lateral lobe of hemipenis broadly boot-shaped.
