Introduction

The family Banjosidae comprises a single genus and species, Banjos banjos. It has been collected off the Western Australian, Queensland and New South Wales coasts and southern Indonesia, and is also known from China, southern Japan and Korea. It is an inshore fish that grows to a maximum standard length of about 30 cm. The most recent account of the banjofish family was by Fowler (1972).
