Genus Asca Von Heyden, 1826
Introduction
Eight named species of Asca have been described or recorded from Australia, but further undescribed or unidentified species exist in collections, as pointed out by Halliday et al. (1998). Unidentified species were also reported by Stone & Simpson (1990, 1991), Walter et al. (1993), Walter & Lindquist (1995), Longstaff et al. (1999), Walter (1999), Osler & Beattie (2001), Kinnear & Tongway (2004), Beaulieu et al. (2006, 2010), Proctor et al. (2011), Colloff et al. (2013), Manwaring et al. (2015, 2018) and Walter & Stirling (2018). Beaulieu & Weeks (2007) reviewed the state of knowledge and ecological significance of this group in Australia.
