Introduction
Aporrectodea caliginosa contains four subspecies ( A. caliginosa caliginosa and A. caliginosa alternisetosa, A. caliginosa meridionalis and A. caliginosa obscuricola) and although the species has been recorded in Australia, the specimens have rarely been assigned to a subspecies.
